The Working Together campaign focuses on increasing inclusive, competitive employment opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and is hosting a series of online webinars, one in each of the 10 Louisiana Department of Health regions. The webinars will introduce local employers – large and small – to a valuable, new labor pool and provide “how to” strategies for recruiting, hiring and retaining employees with developmental disabilities.
In the end, these webinars will help companies find the quality employees they need and create a more inclusive workforce.
Employment Webinars: What to Expect
These are 60 minute “how to” webinars. The standardized, core curriculum is structured to provide step-by-step planning and implementation strategies for recruiting, hiring and retaining employees with developmental disabilities. The content for each webinar is being customized for each specific market with the help of the local chambers of commerce and Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) chapters. Participants will receive a 24 page downloadable booklet for future reference and receive access to a wide variety of supportive resources. The program will conclude with Q&A session hosted by local area experts and state agency representatives.
